What do we need??
Trauma has many faces and hides behind different disguises. It lives and
breathes. It shows itself when it is ready. Trauma has no record or written
word capable of defining it WITH
100% ACCURACY.
Trauma is real. So, in the context of this web
site, to deal with it, we need to understand one overriding thing.
It is not only the patient who may be
traumatised and there are, at times, others who require understanding and help.
I for myself, have, as described previously, obtained guidance and
counselling which, for its part, has assisted me in certain areas to come to
terms more with what I encountered along the sometimes-rocky path I feel I am
travelling still.
And, yes, this is good. Yes, this is as it should be everywhere, and not
only within my own NHS area (the suggestion here being, if you or your
family/friends have not received the same, ask someone “why not”?)
My own experience of
this is allied to what has happened to both my family and myself over the past
8 months. Not all of this has caused concern, but, and these are the operative
words, there have been times when my family would have benefited from help.
